Data Privacy Forum

April 22 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm (GMT+08:00)

Organizations and individuals face data privacy decisions and challenges on a daily basis. With ongoing data breaches and regulatory fines, many companies are ill-prepared for the data privacy requirements they face. These often arise from the internal conflict between meeting regulatory needs and implementing the technology and processes to achieve privacy goals. 2021 will also be welcoming many new privacy regulations across the globe and this inaugural Data Privacy Forum looks to bring together industry experts for round-table discussions on what is to come, and how to prepare for the challenges ahead.

KORNERSTONE Institute along with PowerMind and our Knowledge Partner IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) is organising the first virtual Data Privacy Forum in the Q2 of 2021, inviting over a dozen respected speakers from all corners of the business community to provide insights to the industry in aspects relating to the themes in focus.

The FBCC invites you to join: De-risking the transformation of shipping

Wednesday, 21 April 2021 2 pm - 3.30 pm GMT Online Event

De-risking the Transformation of Shipping

Shipowners, cargo owners, insurance companies, financial institutions, shipbuilders, class societies, and flag states; everybody knows shipping needs to transform and be sustainable for the future. However, the risks in change are higher than usual. And, after years of weak markets, the appetite to take risks is low. So how do we de-risk the transformation? How do we make it just a bit easier to develop, design, finance, insure, and operate those first GHG emission-free ships? How do we contribute to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals?

We have gathered a group of knowledgeable, innovative, and outspoken professionals within those businesses that feel the risks every day. The event is organised together with the Norwegian-British Chamber of Commerce and the Danish-UK Association.

Join us for an hour and a half of trying to figure out how we de-risk the transformation of shipping.

The speakers:

Wegger Chr. Strømmen – Norwegian Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Magne Nilsen Managing Director and Chief Underwriting Officer for Gard (UK) Ltd.

Susanne Gløersen Head of Climate and Sustainable Finance in SEB Norway

Andreas Fjærvoll-Larsen Partner in Wikborg Rein’s Shipping & Offshore Group in Oslo

Knut Ola Skotvedt Senior Vice President, DNB.

Matt Duke – CEO Grieg Maritime Group

FinnCham invites: Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement (RCEP) in Asia-Pacific and its implications to European companies

Dear business partner,

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) is a free trade agreement between the Asia-Pacific nations of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. The 15 member countries account for about 30% of the world's population (2.2 billion people) and 30% of global GDP ($26.2 trillion) as of 2020, making it the biggest trade bloc in history. Unifying the preexisting bilateral agreements between the 10-member ASEAN and five of its major trade partners, the RCEP was signed on 15 November 2020 at a virtual ASEAN Summit hosted by Vietnam, and will take effect 60 days after it has been ratified by at least six ASEAN and three non-ASEAN signatories.

The trade pact is expected to eliminate about 90% of the tariffs on imports between its signatories within 20 years of coming into force, and establish common rules for e-commerce, trade, and intellectual property. The unified rules of origin will help facilitate international supply chains and reduce export costs throughout the bloc.

The agreement is the first free trade agreement between China, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea, four of the five largest economies in Asia. It is predicted to offer significant economic gains for signatory nations, as well as help pull the economic centre of gravity back towards Asia.

Please join the Asia-Pacific Business Associations, The Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and expert speakers to discuss the effects of the agreement to European and Finnish companies already operating in the area or planning on entering the region.
